Fourteenth day Shirakiwago (world heritage site)

We visited Shirakiwago a World heritage site it was very beautiful even without the sun.
These houses are thatched in a traditional grass style that are handed down through the family. These show you what ancient Japan used to live like.
It is a very busy tourist spot and have to get there early or you get swarms of people :p
The village also has some empty show houses you can visit to see the inside of the large 5 storey houses.

When we went into a Old house (Kanda house) they were giving free green tea to people who enter. The Japanese version of English is quite often sentence weird like the example below (it always sounds funny :p)

You have to remove all your footwear when you enter any of the houses.

Cute Totoro selling ice cream :)
(These characters are from a Japanese film by Studio Ghibli called My Neighbour Totoro

Lynda liked this picture :)

We are off to Hiroshima tomorrow which is about 650 km.
